BSEC graduate brings first Learning Center to Florida

Huxtable Education Group, a recent graduate of the Beaver Street Enterprise Center (BSEC), officially opened its new project, The Learning Center Child Development Center, on July 1, making it the first Learning Center in Florida.

FreshMinistries bringing accelerated job training to East Jacksonville

FreshMinistries has forged a partnership with Florida Community College at Jacksonville (FCCJ) for a tailored welding training program that fits the needs of the East Jacksonville community. The program is designed to train underemployed or unemployed adults in an accelerated, 12-week class so they can quickly begin careers in the welding industry, bringing much needed income and stability to the Eastside neighborhood.

The City of Jacksonville has provided funding for the course, allowing 25 people to take advantage of the accelerated course.  Because the grant was given as scholarship, it will not need to be paid back by the students, who live in one of the most impoverished areas of Jacksonville.

But the program is more than just job training.
